The arts and music are staples of life in this culture-rich city on the Deccan Plateau near the western coast. It's not only a major meditation center, but also houses numerous gardens and galleries. The Pataleshwar Cave Temple, dating to the eighth century and dedicated to the god of the underworld, is a marvel of rock-cut architecture. For a panoramic city view, climb to temple-topped Parvati Hill; there is also a small museum with relics from Peshwa rule in the 1700s.
Today, Pune is the centre of traditional Marathi culture, in which education, arts and crafts, and theatre are given pride of place. It has one of India's oldest universities and its numerous colleges attract both Indian and international students, which is probably why it is called the Oxford of the East.
Pune is slowly becoming a cosmopolitan city and is now an important commercial centre. The narrow winding roads of the old Pune offer an interesting contrast to the open, spacious new city. However, Pune retains the old-world charm and its many quaint characteristics, including the omnipresent cyclists, rickshaws and a daily siesta hour that is taken very seriously indeed.Surrounded by verdant hills and beautiful lakes, Pune has a temperate climate and is among the greenest urban areas in the country.

By Air:- Pune’s international airport is located at Lohegaon and is managed by the Indian airport authorities. This airport has both domestic and international carriers with separate terminals actively functioning.
By Railways:- The railways connect Pune to different metros such as Delhi, Mumbai, Goa, Chennai, Bangalore and many more Indian cities.
By Road:- Pune is well connected by a few national highways such as the NH4 that connects this city with other major cities like Mumbai, Bangalore and Kolhapur. If you are arriving from Hyderabad then take the NH 9, and as for people travelling form Nashik or Mumbai then take the NH 50 route.
